CELEBRATING FATHERS' DAY......

In celebrating the Father's Day recently, the members comprising of Gary, Mike, Tan, Charlie and Andy lead by the President Kelvin decided to play at a different venue - Raub Golf Course was picked. So, we decided to RV at our normal breakfast corner at Bukit Tinggi mamak corner - the Sendiri Langkah. After a hasty sarapan pagi, we shoot-off for Raub but not after an emergency stopped at the mid-way Petronas Service station along the Karak Highway. Gary had to go for his what Kelvin interpreted as Hiroshima Bombing!

From there, in two cars, we had a beautiful cool morning drive along the less busy trunk-road to Raub having gone through the town of Bentong and passing a number of fruits stall selling durians, nangka, mangga, etc. Along the way, it was basically nothing else being uttered then to burn the fair-way at the affiliated club of Raub. Alas, what a surprise awaiting for all of us!

The club had lately closed for some reasons or other. When we arrived, the main gate was half opened, main office closed, place littered with birds' droppings, no one in sight, the buggies well parked and the place looked rather strangely quiet and eerie.

With nobody to consult, we left disgruntled, blaming everyone we could think of accept own selves. The least KGAT should have been informed or maybe they did but KGAT failed to put a notice or inform its members-grrrrrrr-the whole trip for nothing! Or is it?

No, certainly not! Most of us being military trained and senior citizens obviously have what we called options or alternatives up our sleeves. So, we zeroed down to the Bentong Golf Club on our en route back-trail. It was a good option. The Bentong Golf Club co-located to a military camp is an old golf club surrounded by rolling hills constructed by the British during the days of communist emergency running on and parallel to a short-landing-take-off airstrip.
