LUNCH HOUR.....makan lagi.

Yes, in Sikit2 Untong it seems nothing moves unless it is followed by MAKAN lagi....as noted above, the nice lunch held at the special lounge of KGAT recently in celebrating the three birthday boys - Kelvin, Andrew and Charlie.
But holy cow.....who is that beating the gun? .......orang belum makan, dia sudah hentam....ayo yo!... no, jangan marah....dia baru balik umrah....he misses our Malaysian curry ho....

WHAT IS AGE?......

".......happy birthday to you......" well, well, well, its birthday celebration for the mighty three musketeers - Kelvin, Andrew and Charlie! The Sikit2 Untong wishes them the very best and may their path be laid with health, wealth and happiness.
How old are they? Well, we thought of placing the right number of candles on the lovely birthday cake but we were advised otherwise - 1 .....there won't be enough space available....2.....the fire boys may need to be put on immediate standby.....
Hey, by the way, what is age mate....its only a figure.....in Sikit2 Untong umor tarak kira punya ...... as long you're happy, keep on exercising, golfing, keep on smiling, never condemn others, good at heart.....that matters most!

JERRY'S KIND VIEWS AND UP-DATING....

Hi Andy,

Thanks for doing a wonderful job as official scribe for Sikit2Untong.I enjoy reading your regular postings on the group's activities often laced with a good dose of humour and subtle innuendos.Since this is the first anniversary of the group perhaps a little background on the origins of the group may be of interest.
The group began with Andrew Boudville,Steve Tan and Willie Wan Idris in 1990.I joined the group to make it a foursome in Jun 1992.There were two main reasons why we played golf regularly.Firstly it was to keep fit by regular exercise and if we happened to achieve a good golf score that was a bonus. In this way we always felt happy in the knowledge that we had exercised ourselves even though we may have played badly. The second reason was because it provided the group an opportunity for social intercourse to keep abreast of news on the Armed Forces and to exchange news of present and past comrades. It was also an opportunity to reminisce the many happy and sometimes not so happy moments of life in the Service. We had much in common as each one of us had served not less than 34 years in the Army.
When we first started we played a round of 18 holes twice a week on tuesdays and fridays. As age caught up with us we reduced it to a round of 9 holes twice a week without fail.
In 2002 Andrew had health problems and became less regular in his attendance. He was replaced by Col(rtd)Dr Geof Yeo and we continued playing at least once but often twice a week.In 2004 Geof Yeo passed away;Kelvin Kong joined us to make the weekly foursome. We kept this weekly schedule come rain or shine for almost 17 years. In 2007 with the inclusion of 6 new members the group named itself Sikit2Untong.
With advancing age and for health and family reasons we have to accept that some of the older members will become less regular in their attendance and will eventually leave the group. As long as we maintain the original aims of the group ie to promote physical well being and to serve as an avenue for social intercourse there should be no problem of other members wanting to join the group. In this connection I informed Kelvin almost two months ago that I am leaving the group because health reasons and do not wish to be included in the group activities either away from Kl or overseas.Being a member of KGAT I will continue to play golf on tuesdays when ever possible.
I wish Sikit2Untong many more happy anniversaries.

Sincerely,
Jerry Ooi

Hi Jerry, thank you so much for your up-dating on the Sikit2 Untong-much appreciated. We certainly enjoyed your warm company and very much looking forward of getting together continuing burning the KGAT fairways. One thing for sure of which I will treasure most and proud to be in common with you of having the previlege of attending through the same tough and well known military institution - Command & Staff College, Quetta, Pakistan - ZINDABAR.

We in Sikit2 Untong pray for your continue support and be in the best of health - God Bless.

Sincerely,
Andy

CAPTAIN ZAINAL T. - PROUD MAN OF BRINCHANG

During our last golf outing to Cameron Highlands, the members of Sikit2 Untong were fortunate to have the rare privilege of being invited for tea western style and tour guide of one of the most beautiful and fantastic sited home in Cameron. The proud owner of the self designed fabulous bungalow is no other than an ex military officer and a retired General Manager of Boh Tea Estate, Brinchang, Cameron Highlands - Captain Zainal Thambi.
After a short fling in the Malaysian Royal Armoured Corps, he left the service, avoided the concrete jungle and still remained in the green fields. Yes, being an ex military officer, he picked the hills - commanding feeling I supposed - and joined the hilly tea plantations in Cameron Highlands. Since then he had been a very proud man of the Cameron and time and again he had appeared in the media being interviewed on the secret of none other but hasiat minum teh - oh blimey!
At the end of June this year, we had apparently given Capt Zainal - who is also our honorary member - an early warning order that the members of Sikit2 Untong will be in Cameron Highlands again and we certainly look forward for his warm company and never run dry of jokes-blimey!

CAMERON HERE WE COME....

The beautiful scenery as observed from the commanding hill top view of Capt Zainal's residence. The view is simply breath taking...as far as one's eyes could see its simply the mighty world with its fresh, thin cool air over the rolling hills in the near and far distance. Just below in the valley is the Boh Tea Estate main office of which Capt Zainal was once the proud General Manager until his recent retirement. Since then he had withdrawn but not to be totally away from the place he and his charming wife had decided to call home among the birds and the bees flying through the breeze of Brinchang, Cameron Highlands.

ALLEN SUDDEN DISAPPEARING ACT....

Now you see him, now you don't! Yes, suddenly our ever smiling too Allen, disappeared! Apa sudah jadi? Before we could press Red Alert, we were told our good never old Allen and wife had gone to Tanah Suci for his Umrah - ....labai kallahuma labaik....
We wish both of them safe journey to the Holy Land and safe return and may their path pave for health, wealth and happiness, at the same time we too tompang sekaki ya.....God Bless

MAKAN TIME....

How come? What happened to the photos on the course and green? Sorry, photos not allowed for it was a sudden decision to have a buddy-buddy competition between Kelvin-Mike against Charlie-Andy. No cameras, no jokes and strictly no laughing allowed.....ayo so strict ah.....yes, don't play-play.... So, who won?....I wonder....
But during lunch, no problem, semua boleh but no politics!.....spoilt our appetite. The lunch ordered through Kelvin and Mike was simply fantastic - good food......yeah.
On the whole it was another good outing for the Sikit2 Untong, especially in celebrating the Fathers' Day.....good luck Papas ( would you believe Grandads!)

BENTONG GOLF CLUB....

Well, what do you know, even Raub Golf Club seemed to desert us! No worry, we did have our better option....the Bentong Golf Club! Above as noted, the ever smiling Kelvin, Mike and Charlie gathering their golf bags on arriving at the pretty old club.
The club being on a week day, was almost empty. The course and green though covered with cow-grass were well maintained-credit goes to the club committee.....well done. We did however had some difficulty in getting the correct range for our fairway shots. We couldn't find the markers indicating the distance to the green, so, we got to agak-agak most of the time. Otherwise full credit goes to the Club.

THE DESERTED RAUB GOLF CLUB............

The nicely parked buggies alongside the lake with its crystal clear water over looking the fairway was the sight greeted us when we got to the Raub Golf Club, Pahang. Sadly however, all these merely for a show for apparently the club due to some reasons or other had closed down.

CELEBRATING FATHERS' DAY......

In celebrating the Father's Day recently, the members comprising of Gary, Mike, Tan, Charlie and Andy lead by the President Kelvin decided to play at a different venue - Raub Golf Course was picked. So, we decided to RV at our normal breakfast corner at Bukit Tinggi mamak corner - the Sendiri Langkah. After a hasty sarapan pagi, we shoot-off for Raub but not after an emergency stopped at the mid-way Petronas Service station along the Karak Highway. Gary had to go for his what Kelvin interpreted as Hiroshima Bombing!

From there, in two cars, we had a beautiful cool morning drive along the less busy trunk-road to Raub having gone through the town of Bentong and passing a number of fruits stall selling durians, nangka, mangga, etc. Along the way, it was basically nothing else being uttered then to burn the fair-way at the affiliated club of Raub. Alas, what a surprise awaiting for all of us!

The club had lately closed for some reasons or other. When we arrived, the main gate was half opened, main office closed, place littered with birds' droppings, no one in sight, the buggies well parked and the place looked rather strangely quiet and eerie.

With nobody to consult, we left disgruntled, blaming everyone we could think of accept own selves. The least KGAT should have been informed or maybe they did but KGAT failed to put a notice or inform its members-grrrrrrr-the whole trip for nothing! Or is it?

No, certainly not! Most of us being military trained and senior citizens obviously have what we called options or alternatives up our sleeves. So, we zeroed down to the Bentong Golf Club on our en route back-trail. It was a good option. The Bentong Golf Club co-located to a military camp is an old golf club surrounded by rolling hills constructed by the British during the days of communist emergency running on and parallel to a short-landing-take-off airstrip.

HEY, ITS GARY....

My oh my....this must be the Sikit2 Untong James Bond! It's our good old Gary! But is he the rightful owner of the tinted maroon beauty? I sure hate to be around if the real owner happens to suddenly pops up with Gary resting his bottom on it! .....ssssshhhhhh.....yeah, keep it quiet, the hot wheel belongs to Kelvin, the Sikit2 Untong President!

WOW....WHOSE SPORTY IS THIS?.....

Gosh, wonder who is behind the wheel of this sporty looking machine? It was seeing parked in between Andy's Ferrari and Steve Alpha at the Rojak Corner. The cutie sure does bring old fond memories of the days of James Bond and maybe even Simon Templer....yeah our good looking Roger Moore. Wonder what the owner looks like?
