Turning a new leaf, confidently and courageously striding into the new year, Sikit2 Untong with Kelvin Kong at the helms chaired a special S2U meeting at the KRAT club house on the noon of the very first day of January 2009.
The get together attended by Gary Chang, Charlie Cheong, Steve Tan, Andrew Boudveile, Allen Adnan, William Wong and Andy Kamal with Richard Rajan joining in later.
Breaking the ice for the new year, Kelvin voiced out the 80 % achievement of its attended goal for 2008 relating to the path taken by S2U for the previous year(s). At the same time, keeping in mind S2U is fast approaching the 2nd year of its existence. During the period of 2008, be it politically, economically, climate uncertainty and even the road leading to the coming soon of the country leadership change, S2U needs to uphold its strength in all ways in particular the sense of keeping fit and healthy through the thoughts of togetherness simply with-out fail burning the fairways of golf outings each week be it locally or the occasional outings to Selesa, Bentong and Cameron Highlands not forgetting to Bandung, Indonesia.
However, for the year 2009, Kelvin warned that due to the world-wide economic set-back as stipulated by the World Banks chain, the outings of S2U financially could be affected be it locally or the idea of going abroad may have to be reined and put on hold.
Nonetheless, the well planned ahead trip to the Cameron Highlands in January for S2U is all system go and will be executed as scheduled even though the club house under construction yet to be completed due to the unfavourable climate conditions. The 3 days outings itinerary as planned for by Charlie and Mike was distributed to all members.
On returning from the Cameron trip, the President informed that another extra-ordinary S2U meeting would be held. This is for the selection through election of the new President of Sikit2 Untong. Kelvin insisted that he felt it is time for him to pass the baton to a new leadership and he assured that whoever been selected through the spirit of muhibbah, he would strongly support be it morally or financially simply for the sake and good of the Sikit2 Untong.
At the same time, Kelvin took the opportunity to info that the Chinese New Year Dinner would be dined on the evening 15 January at the Royal Selangor Club, Bukit Kiara. All S2U members and wives are expected to attend.
On the soft note, Kelvin also acknowledged the recent illness fallen on its members and wished to thank from the bottom of his heart to all those that have visited him during his time of home confinement including John Fok all the way from Hong Kong.
As for the long overdue of the popular mini competition of the Mee Rebus Gang, Kelvin envisaged the need for it to be activated again quickly and also for the good of the sudden poor sales of mee rebus at the Rojak Corner!
