COME TUESDAY...COME THURSDAY....

As we all know, the two days where the members of Sikit2 Untong rendevour for Golf at the KGAT without fail are on Tuesday and Thursday. The first to arrive at the break of dawn around 0630 hours would be me, followed by Gary, Steve, Mike and the rest of the hardcore gang.

After a brief hi at the club lounge and all those supposed to be present that particular morning being accounted for, these pros ever eager to burn the fairway and at about 0715 hours could be seeing proceeding to the 1st Tee-box.

The question raised here is that it has been observed and noted on most of these mornings, due to some reasons or other, not all of us could turn up. Once or twice being absence is very much acceptable but to continue being absent for a long period of time - AWOL? - is certainly something of which we find difficult to be accepted by all.

As for Willie Wan, all of us are much aware of his required withdrawal to New Castle in Kelantan and he assured us he will not miss - no way - the coming trip to Cameron Highlands...I'll be there...that is the semangat setia kawan we want to hear!

Our group of Sikit2 Untong is relatively a small bunch of staunch golfers. Any disappearing act for a long period of time among us, somehow or rather would certainly affect us, be it mentally or morally. We are not that young anymore even though our mind thought or wish so. Therefore all of us are rather sensitive. Like it or not, we do need each other, be it for golf or maybe more for the sake of belonging's and togetherness.

So, come on guys, its only a weekly affair, do try to make it - we do wish to plan many many more creative things and outings - we need each other's shoulder for support and rubbing!!

A YEAR HAS GONE BY...

What is living without life...what is life without living...yes, while there's still sweet breath to inhale in this beautiful God created world, let's make the most of it, let live be live....

Looking back, a year has gone since we successfully got together in the forming of the Sikit2 Untong with its members, mainly yes, the mighty eleven, comprising majority of retirees that adamantly refuses to retire their still ever strong willing bodies but to strive for many many more miles ahead as to reach out and sweat it out be it in mind or in physical strength.
Life comes but once and while it lasts there are so many things to do, to see, to share, to give, to be thankful, good or bad, out of what God has laid-out for us in this great piece of world. Grab the opportunity and make the most of it before your time is up of which by then will only be filled by nothing other than tears and parting words with no U Turn or don't even think of making a round-about pusing. Its a single one way ticket flight mate.

This is exactly what we members of Sikit2Untong have in mind - we are all YB, not Yang Berhormat but Yang Bersara that are still positively very much being active in body and soul. After all these years, we find life is so precious and so much more to be explored into and to be part of it. To venture and to maximize these opportunities, we need to do it together, as a one strong happy team and certainly with a true spirit of a single identity of a Malaysian - not as a Malay, Chinese, Indian or whatever but as Malaysians. Is this something too difficult to ask? No, I don't think so, but I believe the politicians somehow make it difficult to swallow for some reasons or other.

These basic and positive needs of to live, being active, to play golf as such were simply the ascent that kept us all the togetherness and so much so coming to a stage whereby anyone of us just by missing a session of the Sikit2 Untong golf outing would certainly felt that he has definitely and miserably lost something big that particular week. As though something precious suddenly being taken away from their norm and sudah tentu not going to be to their liking. This to show how much Sikit2 Untong meant to all of us.

Under the leadership of our President, Kelvin Kong, what more with the strong support by all its staunch members, from day one of its forming, through weeks followed by months and eventually a year creeps by, we somehow managed to keep things lively by introducing and capatilised various activities. To mention few of the guys such as Gary Chang the Chairman, Charlie Cheong the mighty Treasurer and then Mike Mustafa the Golf Competition Chairman. These guys really relentlessly put their nose into ensuring things get done to their best ability. Such as different golf venues, hill resorts, overseas trip, types of tournaments, lunches, dinners, family get-together, makan hide-outs, festive seasons gatherings, etc.

As said, a year has gone. We seemed to be happy of what we have achieved so far. With what we had in pocket, is it good enough for us to proceed many more miles ahead? Can we improve our standing with more creativity inputs? Say, do we need to expand our memberships? Who do we pick and invite to join? At the same time, or are we running-out of ideas?

Yes, do come forward, we need positively thinking sort of ideas. Think about it simply for the betterment of the none other then Sikit2 Untong. We need that extra mileage to explore further, much much further - as far as Perth down under? or would you believe Mission Hill in the far north?

Wow-yes, we certainly are Sikit2 Untong but at the very same time we do THINK BIG for the betterment of all. Good luck and God Bless to all of us. Pen-off for now.

Another interesting place of such is the Rojak Corner (RC) at Jalan Bellamy co-located with the old NAAFI. These places are picked based on their ideal locations, cleanliness, fair price, easy access and parking. At the RC, apart from its delicious rojak, we do enjoy its fantastic Mee Rebus, Mee Bandung, Mee Goreng Mamak and banyak lagi... hmmm...yumee yumee

END OF BANDUNG MISSION

ON BOARD THE FLIGHT.....

Goodness me....after all the food at the departure lounge, Charlie seemed still hungry...or is it something else that made him hungry!
"...eh do you have a hotdog for 5000 rupiah?.....eh with special sauce please ...that is to my taste....."

FLIGHT AIRASIA QZ7593.......

It's boarding time....Flt AirAsia QZ7593 with an almost 2 hour direct flight that took us home to LCCT Sepang. The departure lounge was certainly very much more orderly as compared to the arrival. The timing for boarding and eventually the take-off was surprisingly perfect. The weather too was kind even though the aircraft in its climb went through some thick dark clouds and eventually into a clear blue sky.....bon voyage....

After gruelling 4 days in Bandung, it was end of mission....seeing here Kelvin leading his merry men during the sober pull-out....for one thing assured, each and one of us accomplished their aim, to see Bandung, to play golf, sight-seen, shopping, etc....whatever it may be, it certainly carried fond memories and who knows......kami akan datang lagi.....

....TIME CAUGHT-UP...ITS TIME TO DEPART...

Suddenly, as normal, all good things certainly will come to an end. Yes, not to the liking of some of us .... ayo .... sudah mau balik ah...
As seen here the golf bags and luggage being loaded into the bus and to proceed to the airport.

SUKAJADI HOTEL BY NIGHT...

The hotel we stayed, Sukajadi, by enlarge, is relatively quite and situated almost right in the centre of the busy Bandung. It does not have such things like kareoke lounge or night clubs. So, it is a good place for quiet evening to have a peaceful drink and chat. The bar corner too remains open until well after midnight i.e. as long we remain there to drink.....tapi jangan sampai mabuk Pa'....

BANDUNG TOO ENJOYS ITS JAM....

Due to its huge population, Indonesia just could not avoid its massive traffic too. Traffic jam or more commonly known as majet is nothing new in all major cities of which Bandung is included. Apart from cars, mobil to locals, the other great in numbers are the motor-bikes or kereta to locals. So, to travel in these cities, do pre-plan your schedule as to be on time and in avoiding frustration.
