...Happy New Year..2009

.....a year has gone by...2008 suddenly left us...it seems so fast, have we accomplished our desired need within that period of time...so many things had happened, be it to our liking or otherwise....is it time to look back...no, it is not wise, proceed we must...we may have struggled through the year...whatever, good or bad...ahead will be our eventual goal ....this step we must take and it will certainly be as one...togetherness with a common goal ....to the warm arms and laps of happiness, health and prosperous in life....

...to all the members of Sikit2 Untong and their wonderful families, the President, Kelvin Kong wishes a Happy New Year and may the year 2009 brings sweet success, health and prosperity to us S2U and the families...God bless all of us....cheers.

LOOK....SIAPA DISINI......

.....what do you know......we just had a round of golf on that beautiful Tuesday morning and suddenly at one corner of the club-house we saw somebody sitting all by himself.

Who could that be? No, certainly no need for any question to ask.....anybody can tell that someone is nobody else other than our beloved President, Kelvin Kong!

Mama mia....after a long absent he suddenly poped up just to join us all for the morning tea and for some chow!

Not only that he also turned up to find-out how's everybody doing especially in their preparation for the coming golf outing at Cameron Highlands next month.

And typical of him, in showing his strong support for the trip, Kelvin handed over to Charlie-our no hanky-panky treasurer, an encouraging amount of cash more or less endorsing and giving the green-light for the 3 days trip!

From all of us....Kelvin a big THANK YOU and its nice to have you back and we wish you a speedy recovery as we do have a back-log of mee-rebus to recover from the Rojak Corner.....God bless, Mr President.

SIKIT2UNTONG ANNUAL MEETING.....

......yes, I know you and your love ones are enjoying your Christmas retreat......the lovely roast turkey, chicken, Christmas cakes .... custard .... pudding .... followed by mama mia glass of wine and blimey...... a huge mug of beer to down with!

Not the least to spoil your festive season mood, I do need to announce to all members of S2U that our Annual Meeting will be held on this Tuesday 30 December 2008 at the KRAT Club House, immediately after the morning round of golf.

Do please be there. Your presence to show your strong support for our existence certainly very much appreciated for......meanwhile do drink-up but don't ever get behind the wheels!!......cheers!

JUDGING DISTANCE - TEE BOX

Unless you are very familiar with the course, one tends to hesitate before teeing off simply because of the uncertainty to the distance you need to address.

Undoubtedly, the required info are all basically there as shown here in the picture. Nonetheless, commonsense needs to come into motion. Are you teeing off on a flat fairway? Or is it up-hill or down -hill? Here one tends to adjust accordingly be it longer iron or otherwise.

So, again therefore experience and ground knowledge do play an important role. Whatever, tunggu apa lagi....pukul lah....

TIPS OF THE DAY....

".....hey, where's the green?...."

Before any tee-off or any round of golf, it is best to gather as much as possible on the ground knowledge. Do try to maximize important info of the course - such as is it a fast/slow course/green, dry/soggy fairways, dog-legs, types of bunkers, ponds, hazards, OBs, local rules, etc.

With these extra info/inputs, one certainly tends to play with more relax and confidence.

CLUB NOT READY?.....

As planned for, the next outing for the mighty golf crazy S2U in Cameron Highlands would be next year i.e next month in January 2009. Yes, all of us do really eyeing for the occasion, not so much for the golf outing or even for it to be in Cameron Highlands, but simply because it is the day scheduled to be held our Sikit2 Untong Annual Golf Championship!

Our last outing in Cameron was almost a year ago, therefore Andy gave a call to find-out the latest on the Club House of which apparently was demolished and renovation was in progress then. And hoping for a favourable answer as to the completion of the club in time for the S2U to celebrate their annual championship, Andy instead got a shocking reply....the club is nowhere ready and basing on the constant downpour, it might takes more than a year to complete!

Whatever, the already delayed tournament certainly needs to go on. Anyway its the club house that is not ready. The course is still there waiting for us to burn its fairways! Cameron Highlands here we come.

TIPS OF THE DAY...

The Sikit2 Untong 2008 Annual Golf Championship is just around the corner....it is the day all of us certainly but rather impatiently, look forward to. This time round, according to Mike, the S2U Golf Chairman, it looks like the tournament will be held high-up among the cool rolling hills of Cameron Highlands and that will be during the first week of January next year.

Why not this year?....yeah, good question! Well, its simply because most of us or maybe some of us - such as Charlie, Andy and more recent Kelvin were down BUT not out, with some kind of illness or rather. At the same time, Willie is backed home in New Castle (Kota Bharu), I supposed trying to find solutions to help solving the flood situation! Other than that, Hari Raya Aidil Adha and Christmas Eve around the corner and what not. So, basing on all these reasons, subject to the clearance and approval of our President, Kelvin Kong, the tournament to be held in CH on 6, 7 and 8 Jan 09.

The meantime, Andy will come-up from time to time with tips on golf....as to how to be a champion........are you serious?.......positively!

MEMORABLE TRIP TO GUILIN, CHINA

Guilin is well known for its majestic scenery and even mentioned as the finest under heaven. Located in the northeast Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Guilin City is South China's shining pearl covered with verdant mountains, elegant waters, magnificent crags and fantastic caverns.

Early last month, in November, a small group from the S2U comprising of Kelvin Kong and wife Karen, Steve Tan and wife Catherine and our bachelor Charlie Chong (...I though he's married?..) made this pleasant trip to Guilin. We are quite sure they do have lots to tell of their fond memories on the exiting places they had explored.

....the trip to Guilin, China was certainly something to come by and something to be treasured for a long time to come....especially for those nature lovers....thank you Kelvin, Steve, Charlie and their beloved wives for a memorable encounter.....

DOWN BUT NOT OUT....

Talking about not being well, it was quite noticeable of the sudden disappearance of Andy from the scene, not only during golf but around the club house. For more than two weeks he was no where to be seen. What happened?....cough....cough...cough....ah huh....that's what happened!.... yeah, he was hit far worse than the tsunami!.....he was overcame by the flu virus and whatever you can think of......stuffed with anti-bio tics, cough drops, vitamins, numerous get-well calls from Kelvin and eventually Dr Gary came to the rescue with the dosage of Ginseng! ....in fact Andy did ask what does it cost (the price of the capsules)....Gary's answer was don't worry...it is expansive but its worth it....what do you know.....it sure does.....Thanks Gary and also to Kelvin for his kind and comforting best wishes! ....as for Andy, its time to update the website!....oh, blimey!

Come Tuesday at the break of dawn, apparently another day of golfing for the S2U, Mike drove in and parked alongside Andy's Ferrari at the KRAT parking lot. After a brief hi hi hi...Andy asked how come Kelvin's sporty James Bond (car) was still not around? Normally with his loud FM music, in a way sort of waking up all the sleepy birds along the fairways, he would be one of the first to arrive at the club! ....wow....according to Mike, our live wire President, Kelvin Kong is down with fever!...and he is not to receive any calls what so ever! ....mama mia! ....what about house call by the hardcore gangs?....no way, said Steve (later on).....the house might be laid-out with strings of minefields to keep out intruders! ....yo, this is serious and don't ever come up with the idea of bringing old/former girlfriends too....that could trigger far more worse than the Mumbai massacre!

On the other hand, Kelvin might be resting conserving his energy for the coming Karaoke at Cameron Highlands next month... Whatever, we wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see you soon.....God bless....yes!

THE S2U HARI RAYA 2008 DINNER

For the year 2008, it was decided to have a change of venue in celebrating the Hari Raya Idilfitri. The four S2U Muslims members comprising of Mike Mustafa, Willie Wan, Allen Adnan and Andy Kamal, picked Quality Hotel in Jalan Raja Laut, KL in hosting and inviting the rest of the S2U members and wives to dinner.

It was a sheer coincident in picking the Hotel. Apparently the Hotel was formally the former Holiday Inn and Kelvin Kong was the one behind its construction then. It certainly brings back fond memories for Kelvin.

So, that evening dressed in our traditional S2U jackets and the ladies in their evening dress, the gallant members of S2U swayed their way through the maddening evening traffic plus the non-stop down-pour as to regroup at our rendezvous-The Benteng, Quality Hotel.

Come what may, we were well entertained to a deserving BBQ dinner accompanied by the in-house musicians and the sudden appearance of uninvited singers from the S2U that somehow or rather managed to put-up a brave show!

We sincerely do hope everyone had a good time and we do look forward for more memorable evenings in the future.

WHEN CHARLIE IS NOT GOLFING....

There you are.....caught on camera too...when he is not firing away golf balls on the course, you'll tend to find Charlie happily enjoying his mee rebus....to him there's nothing more better than a delicious mee rebus panas! No wonder he's so serious when it comes to return matches between Kelvin and the rest of the gang.

THE 2008 HARI RAYA GET TOGETHER.....

After a good round of golf, especially for those that lay-off for more than a month during the fasting month of Ramadhan, it was followed with a quick shower and a making a bee-line to the secluded corner in the club house for a real get-together - the Sikit2 Untong style.

As shown above, led by our energetic President Kelvin Kong, the strong members of S2U, with one spirit in mind and soul, of understanding and caring simply for the sake of togetherness for the betterment of us mankind, to ever strive forward, beyond the hills yonder....

THE DAWNING OF RAMADHAN....

Creeping into the holy month of Ramadhan saw the thinning-out of our Muslim brothers from the arena of golf accept for the ever physically and mentally strong Mike Mustafa that soldier-on.

The month of Ramadhan among our circle of Sikit2 Untong members will be the period of fasting from dawn to dusk for our Muslim brothers in particular Mike, Willie, Allen and Andy.

Heading home a day before Ramadhan on the south-bound train and eventually east heading for Kota Bharu (New Castle) was Willie Wan and Family.....kelek Kelantey. He made the early long retreat to his home town, certainly to conserve his energy during Ramadhan for the coming many tournaments ahead. We will certainly miss Willie for a month. He should be back with us after Hari Raya and hopefully with lots of the lovely kuih/cookies made from the famous che mek molek Kelantan.

To all our Muslim brothers, our President, Kelvin took the opportunity to wish them all and family a Selamat Berpuasa, travel safely and God Bless.

As for the rest of the gang, in particular the hard core, lead by Kelvin, Gary, Mike, Charlie and William not forgetting Andrew that eventually did turn-up after a long break, all these guys will continue burning the fairways (yo...its rainy season mate...not going to be easy to burn the fairway!) and also keeping the Mee Rebus laku on hot stove.....well done guys.....keep the flag flying!

The Beijing Olympic undoubtedly is still going full swing.....all eyes and ears through-out the world zeroed to the well Chinese organised and challenging sports ...... but to the Sikit2 Untong there seems something else going on ...... the neck-to-neck tak mau kalah ...... mee rebus challenge ..... so, Steve decided to call this special flight comprising of Kelvin, Mike, Charlie and Andy to be branded as Mee Rebus Gang! ..... the only thing for the rest of us bystanders, we are wondering and praying for their change for a new menu.....!!

"....I really don't know who gave us this name....MEE REBUS PANAS GANG.....but one thing for sure the name certainly brought us lots of mee rebus at the Rojak Corner!.....and the fighting spirit shown by the Mee Rebus Sejuk Gang should be commendable.....they definitely kept the rest of the Sikit2 Untong Gang happy in supplying the mee rebus....."

Yes, we are the Mee Rebus Sejuk Gang.....don't get us wrong though...the sejuk (cool) is merely our style of play....yeah play it cool.....when Mee Rebus Panas Gang gets heated-up (yes, something like over-heating), that's when we strike....yeah abit of Mao's teaching mate!
